‘Otso Otso,’ ‘Spageti’ singers coming to Saipan
The smash single “Otso Otso” certainly ranks among one of the most popular songs on island since debuting on the Saipan airwaves last year but now, its about to hit another level.
Comedian Bayani Agbayani, widely known as the singer of the hit single that topped the Manila music charts, teams up with fellow television stars from the Philippines, Sex Bomb Girls, and Saipan’s own Big Beats Band in a live concert scheduled for Oct. 10 at Hopwood Junior High School.
Tickets purchased in advance cost $10 per child and $15 per adult. Cost increases to $12 per child and $18 per adult if purchased at the gate. Tickets would go on sale soon.
The event, hosted by the Northern Marianas College Foundation with support from Tan Holdings Corp., is intended to not only present the community with a night of fun and live entertainment, but also to assist in raising funds for the college.
“We are really pleased to have the opportunity to bring these top entertainers to Saipan,” said NMC Foundation president Jerry Tan. “It should be a very exciting concert with the proceeds to benefit Northern Marianas College.”
Tan further recognized the assistance of the University of Guam Endowment Foundation, which would play host to the group on Oct. 9.
“I’d like to acknowledge the support we received from the University of Guam Endowment Foundation by giving us this opportunity,” he said. “Since they are also bringing the talent to Guam for a show on Oct. 9, we are able to host a concert here on Saipan. This kind of regional cooperation between the schools for fundraising events like this is a win-win for higher education in the region.”
Agbayani, an actor for over a decade, has made many appearances around the world, including Japan, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hawaii, and Hong Kong.
The Sex Bomb Girls rocketed into pop stardom, landing on the FHM Philippines magazine cover twice and topping the Philippine album charts with two quadruple platinum records. Their smash hit “Spageti Song” not only had strong airplay on radio but is popular among children parties.
Members of the group include Rochelle Pangilinan, Diofanny (Jopay) Paguia, Charizza Ann (Izzy) Arapeles, Maria Florentina (Weng) Ibarra, Evette Pabalan, and Monina (Monic) Icban.
Other sponsors of the event include Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach, Marianas Cable Vision, Saipan Tribune, and Shirley’s Coffee Shop.
The NMC Foundation is seeking additional sponsors to help with the event. For more information, contact Lynn Knight at 233-3773/2.
