‘Tis the season to play volley
For some students, the mere mention of the month of September sends shivers down their spine, as blinding dread of returning to the classroom becomes all-consuming. For a handful of campus athletic types, however; the ninth month offers a little different sort of homework assignment.
For a team of six Dolphins hailing from Marianas High School, this autumn season will be a bit merrier, as they ready for the bumps, sets, and spikes of the Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League on the sand courts behind the Pacific Islands Club.
The season kicks off this evening at 6pm, when the Dolphins take on Esemuoel, and continues at 7pm when the Bananas meet the Clam Smackers. At 8pm, Shoot the Winkle takes aim at the Sleezy Lambleezies, followed by the final match of the night between the Tell Them Tom Braider Sent You and the Bill Bratzski’s.
Games will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 10pm. through the end of the roughly 11-week season, and although Mother Nature has a hand in making the weather, she won’t have any say in whether or not the games will be played. As with a majority of the sporting events hosted by the PIC, it’s game-on rain or shine.
Each team of seven players will be permitted four players on the court, with the stipulation that one female be on the court at all times.
