Scary and frightful Halloween at the PIC
Have fun and get ready for a thrilling Halloween treat this Sunday at Pacific Islands Club.
PIC is all set for an all-day series of activities beginning at 10am up to late evening on Oct. 31 when it holds its Haunted Halloween Show.
PIC food and beverage director Steve Balakrishna said this Sunday’s event is both for children and adults alike.
“It’s a family affair. This is our treat to the community. So come on down and celebrate Halloween with us. Our staff have worked hard for this special event for everyone to enjoy,” he said.
PIC Sports, Entertainment, and Activities manager Kittinan “Nan” Intharaluk said PIC has reserved its Buoy Bar for different children’s activities during the day: Halloween Picture Puzzle contest at 10am, a pumpkin carving contest at 11am, followed by brunch and halloween show from 12:15pm to 1:30pm and a Halloween face painting at 2pm.
“Kids can come without masks or paints. We can do it for them,” he said.
At 3pm, the PIC Club Mates will spearhead a Halloween obstacle course at Volleyball Court, balloon toss at the Activity Field at 4pm, and bingo at the Buoy Bar at 5pm.
Nan said prices are at $25 for children and $30 for adults, inclusive of “brunch” served from 11am to 2pm and water park activities from 9am to 6pm.
“If they play and get tired, they can take a rest, eat, and go back again. They will have the entire day to enjoy,” said Nan.
He said contest winners will get prizes such as PIC medals and other giveaways.
In the evening, PIC offers a dinner and show package at $30 per person, which entitles customers to participate in a Creepy Haunted House trip at 6:30pm to be held in front of the Kid’s Club, as well as a Halloween Show at 9:00pm at Charley Cabaret.
Nan said there will be seven haunted rooms to thrill and scare visitors. “Each room has its own different thing to get you,” said entertainment and administrative manager Dennis Tababa.
Among others, he said, visitors would find Dracula, a killer clown room, and dinner table chop room.
After the trip to the haunted rooms, people will proceed to Charley’s Cabaret for the Halloween show, which features PIC’s version of Wiz and other scary and bone-jolting production numbers.
“During the show, the bar will be open,” he said.
Nan said a costume contest for kids and adults will be held during the show. Winners will receive PIC certificates for dinner or the water park.
Meantime, PIC executive chef Robert Stern said his team will prepare a spooky cuisine to fit the occasion. “This is a special menu this year. We’ve got for instance a scary class noodle salad, ghastly green broccoli and crabmeat salad, and ghostly pumpkin soup,” he said.
The dinner and show package rate includes wines, beer, juice, soda, and hot drinks.
PIC also offers a local discount of 20 percent on that evening. (Liberty Dones)
