Where the ball bounces
The ping and pong of table tennis was heard at the Northern Marianas College Gymnasium, as the Marianas Amateur Table Tennis Association held its 2004 Marianas Friendship Table Tennis Tournament last weekend at the Fina Sisu campus.
The team from the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino went on to tuck its third straight goodwill tournament win after beating host Saipan black and blue. The players, however, were all winners when Su Yong Dong graciously hosted them to a sumptuous lauriat dinner at his Iron Chef Restaurant in Garapan.
Last week also saw the 2004 Government Basketball League unfurl at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs and Public Scholl System were the first to barge into the win column after topping Commonwealth Ports Authority and Department of Public Safety, respectively, in the twinbill.
FILATA then saw its 2004 Shell-Telesource Open finally wrap up with an awards banquet last Oct. 30 at the American Memorial Park tennis courts.
The Commonwealth Football League, the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League, the World Organized Rocball Interscholastic and Community League, and the Super Saturday Halloween 9-Ball Tournament were also held last week.
