The Bank of Guam has filed a lawsuit against Jesus I. Taisague over an unpaid loan amounting to over $200,000.

The bank also impleaded Rebecca M. Taisague as defendant in a civil action filed with the Superior Court Tuesday.

The bank’s lawyer, Gregory Koebel, said the Taisagues had defaulted on the payment of a $181,000-loan, which the defendants obtained on Aug. 29, 2000.

The Taisagues had mortgaged two Rota lots—a 932-sqm lot in Sinapalo and a 929-sqm lot in Batko—to secure the promissory note they had issued in favor of the bank, Koebel said.

Koebel said the Taisagues failed to settle their obligation despite demand. He said the bank sent the defendants a notice of default last Oct. 6.

As of Nov. 8, the unpaid balance of the loan remained at $174,270.90. Including interest until Monday, the unpaid loan has ballooned to $208,722.68.

Koebel asked the court to compel the Taisagues to pay the bank the unpaid loan plus interest. He also asked that the mortgaged Rota lots be foreclosed and auctioned off, so that proceeds could satisfy a possible favorable judgment by the court.
