With a little over two weeks remaining, the race for the regular season champion is heating up, as the front running Flush It! (9-1) and second place Bend It Like Megan (8-1) each added another win to their record in continuation of the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League.

Flush It! bounced back from their loss against the Megan-like contortionists last week to sweep the winless Team Papalatung (0-9) in straight sets—11-2, 11-9, and 11-2. Flush It! has won the most sets in the league with 24, but Aleta Glaze knows that there is another team waiting to take their place, as the Megan squad is right behind them at 23.

Led by the crafty cunning of captain Nick Castro, Bend It Like Megan extended their winning streak to three games against the inconsistent Shoot the Winkle (4-6). Megan Kinney, Nan Intharaluk, and company took the first two sets 11-7 and 11-2 to clinch the best of three affair before dropping the final 14-12.

While the third place Sleezy Lambleezies were idle on Tuesday night, the fourth place Dragon Flares (7-2) continued their upward path by sweeping the Bananas (5-5) 11-2, 11-9, and 11-2. The Flares needed to come back with a win after they fell to the hands of Tell Them Tom Braider Sent You last week, and the took advantage of a Bananas unit that has suffered defeats in its last three outings.

In a battle of the sub-par crowd, the Bill Bratzski’s (3-5) broke out a broom against a victory-challenged Esemuoel (0-9) that has allowed more points against than any team in the league (296) by a combined score of 33-10. After vocal leader Mark McDonald and his band of merry men (and women) pulled off their second win in a row, the Bratzski’s still have an outside shot at obtaining one of the eight playoff slots. Shoot The Winkle (4-6) currently hold the final invitation to post-season play, but the Clam Smackers (3-6) are just a game behind, and the captain Catherine Chapman led Bratzski’s are also with in reach of a affirmative R.S.V.P. to the dance.
