Hotel Nikko Saipan yesterday said it is planning to renovate the hotel’s existing facilities this year, denying reports that the hotel is in the process of being sold to another company.

Nikko president Shinji Nakamura disclosed that his office has been receiving inquiries about the purported sale.

“We have no idea about that,” Nakamura said. “Definitely not.”

Japan Airlines own more than 80-percent of hotel shares, according to Nakamura. Any sale would have to have the consent of JAL, but Nakamura said there is none.

He said Nikko has not even received any proposal from a company interested to acquire the hotel.

“The hotel itself is more than 15 years [old],” Nakamura said, adding that Nikko’s management is now in the process of coming up with a renovation plan for 2005.
