Woman charged with 63 counts of theft by deception

The Attorney General’s office has filed 63 counts of theft by deception against a woman at the Superior Court on Friday.

The charges were lodged against Marissa P. Meijia, a staff member at Philpan Intenational Corporation, which operates Executive Homes Apartment.

According to the information submitted by chief prosecutor David Hutton, Meijia purposely obtained a total of $16,583.03 in payments for apartment rental fees due to Philpan owner Ma. Luz Ahat Dolotina.

Meijia committed the alleged theft by deception from July to November 2004, collecting monthly rental payments that range between $210 and $675.

Theft of any property with a value less than $250 is punishable by imprisonment for a maximum of one year.

A person convicted of theft involving a property with a value between $250 and $20,000 may be punished by imprisonment for not more than five years. (Agnes E. Donato)
