GUAM—Tango Inc. has announced that it will open a new state-of-the-art, five-plex movie theater in the newly renovated Agana Shopping Center in Hagatna, Guam. This will be the second location for the company, which also operates the 12-plex Micronesia Mall Theatre. Tango is an affiliate of Tan Holdings Corp.

In a press conference at the shopping center on Friday, vice president Art Gordon said that the new theater—scheduled to open in Spring 2006—will include plush stadium seating and “the latest, state-of-the-art projection and sound equipment available.”

Gordon said the company has been very pleased with the growth of its Micronesia Mall Theater, which started off slowly when the company first opened in 1998. The theater has successfully reached a 53-percent market share of theater patronage on Guam and it’s still growing. The new theater will help fill the void for movie theaters in the center and south part of Guam, according to Gordon.

Tan Holdings executive vice president Jerry Tan said his company is looking forward to Tango’s business expansion in the Agana Shopping Center.

“We’re very excited to be a part of the beautiful new Agana Shopping Center, which has just undergone a major renovation. This location is significant for the island, and we’re pleased to be able to bring theater entertainment to more conveniently serve the people of central and southern Guam,” said Tan. “I remember as I was growing up in Guam that this mall was the oldest, largest shopping center. Now with its new design and new tenants, I feel it will once again be an important shopping and entertainment center for the community.”
