The Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands has rescheduled its cancelled monthly meeting last Saturday to tomorrow, Feb. 2, 5:30pm at the conference room of Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

BANMI president Mike Muna, in a phone interview yesterday, said he cancelled last Saturday’s meeting because of the last-minute make-up games of the 2004 Government Basketball League, that was held during the same day on Tinian.

The two make-up games saw Muna’s Commonwealth Ports Authority and Commonwealth Health Center get a rowdy welcome from the host island, which secured the No. 2 spot in the second round following a sweep of both weekend matches.

Muna said his trip to Saipan’s southern neighbor was an eye opener and showed him that basketball is alive and well on Tinian.

He said he would recommend to the BANMI board, during the same monthly meeting, to hold more association-sanctioned games on the island.

Others topics to discussed in the BANMI meeting, according to Muna, are the ongoing 2004 Government Basketball League playoffs, and updates on the upcoming 35-and-over Masters Basketball League, 25-and-under Basketball League, and the 14-and-under Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League.
