Guam-based Micronesia Group Inc. assisted the Public School System Thursday during the start of its two-day professional development program held at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
“Let us be each other’s partners in the workplace and share convictions with respect as a team and I am sharing my team with you today,” said Micronesia Group chief executive officer Jesse Sablan.
Sablan led the presentation attended by Kagman High School teachers and staff. He said his group presented a more dynamic professional development seminar focusing on accreditation and professionalism of KHS employees.
Lead facilitator Wil Castro talked about the topic of accreditation, which is in line with KHS’ ongoing accreditation application with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the U.S.
Castro said the accreditation would provide high-quality learning opportunities for the school, improving it in ways that would allow it to continuously focus on students’ performance. Castro said that accreditation also serves as a certification that validates the integrity of KHS’ programs and student transcripts.
Sablan said that KHS could use the evaluation to integrate with the progression of KHS’ second year, hoping to reach a solution to their third year of accreditation assessment. KHS is expected to get full accreditation in six years, said Sablan.
Before the seminar started, Sablan introduced Micronesia Group as a professional services corporation that comprises individuals within varied sectors in the Pacific, which specializes in the business development and understanding of the elements of any organizational structure.
Flying in from Guam together with Sablan and Castro are Micronesian Group vice chair John Fegurgur M.D. and Rita P. Nauta.
Nauta discussed team building and the advantages of effective communication among school staff and teachers.
Sablan and company were again the guest speakers when the two-day seminar, organized by the Public School System, shifted to the KHS campus yesterday. The topic revolved around statewide professional development.
