Ten law enforcement officers, including three women, completed yesterday their training on “officer’s survival.”

The CNMI’s police academy conducted a brief ceremony for the law enforcers’ graduation from the “Basic Officer’s Survival Training,” which taught them the various approaches in responding to incidents that call for police assistance.

Lt. Pete A. Leon Guerrero and Police officer 3 Jose P. Saures conducted the training.

Five of those who completed the training are Immigration officers: Julita Omar, Dorothy Cepeda, Martin Cepeda, Thomas Fujihira, and Stella Cabrera.

The other five graduates are police officers who act as school resource officers: Joseph Magofna, Steven A. Castro, Jason Rekemesik, Glenn Rabago, and Murphy Paul.

The training incorporates techniques in approaching varying incidents, from mere police presence, verbal communication, physical technique, use of pepper mace and baton, to the use of deadly force or a gun.

The training will also help prepare the immigration officers should they transfer to the new Department of Corrections.
