Bwibwi firepower too much for Ochobu

World Organized Rocball action continued yesterday afternoon at the Marianas High School Green Court with hard-hitter Darrel Moteisou and his Bwibwi squad firing at will to lambaste Ochobu en route to picking up another victory.

Three Bwibwi players knocked in a goal apiece, leading the team to a lopsided 47-18 win.

Ochobu struggled to get into a rhythm, failing to convert on first serves at the start of the first set.

Not helping Ochobu’s cause was a furious charge by Bwibwi, which went to take the early advantage with a 12-0 win. Ochobu twice had a point to their corner, but first-serve mishaps brought their score back to zero.

Failure to put the ball in play continued to hunt Ochobu in the second set, limiting the team to a measly three points. Meanwhile, Bwibwi was having a blast, scoring on kees, aces, and two goals for a 14-3 win and a comfortable 26-4 cushion overall.

Like in their previous outing, the Ochobu players managed to keep their composure and made a game out of the match by putting up better numbers in the third set. Julius Saito smacked an ace and Dean Mathew connected for a kee, spearheading their squad to an 11-9 win.

Although, the team still trailed by a mile in the overall score, it still had a chance to force o-kon if Ochobu takes the fourth set.

That was not the case though, as Bwibwi opened with a goal by Shane Yamada and cruised to juice out the match with a 12-4 win.

Moteisou was named heavy hitter after connecting for three aces, a xunk, a kee, and a goal for 13 points, while Yamada had an ace and a goal for 5 points.

Rocball action continues throughout the week at the Green Court, with games played from 12:30pm to 1:10pm.

Rocball is a non-contact team net game derivative of volleyball and a Meso-American sport—Tlachtli—once played by the athletes of the Aztecs civilization of what is now the country of Mexico.

It was created in 1979 and evolved into a full-blown tournament a couple of years later.

Rocball creator Jim Feger officiates all the games and is available at 664-3810 for schedule updates or for more information.
