HAGATNA, Guam—Continental Airlines announces the availability of resident fares on Continental’s website, www.continental.com for residents of the Micronesia region.

Resident fares are specially discounted fares exclusively available for residents of Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, and the Marshall Islands, and are valid for travel within those regions.

Resident fares have long been and are still available for purchase at local travel agencies and at Continental’s city ticket offices, airport ticketing offices, and through Continental’s Reservations call centers.

All tickets purchased through Continental’s web site are not subject to a ticket service fee, which is applied to tickets purchased through Continental’s reservations centers, or at Continental’s city or airport ticket offices.

“Enhancing our services to be able to offer resident fares on our website is another example of Continental’s commitment to the loyal customers we serve here in the Micronesia region,” said Mark Erwin, Continental Micronesia president and chief executive officer.

To purchase a resident fare ticket on Continental’s website, customers must enter their routing and dates of travel and then select “Advanced Search (Country of Purchase)” on Continental’s home page. At this point the customer must select a billing address country from the drop down menu under “Where is your billing address?” Customers can select Guam; Micronesia, Federated States of Micronesia; Marshall Islands; Palau; and Northern Mariana Islands from the menu, based on the country in which the customer’s credit card is billed. Only credit cards with billing addresses from the countries listed above will be accepted for resident fare online ticket purchase.

Customers traveling on resident fare tickets will be asked upon check in to present proof of residency in the form of identification like a valid driver’s license or valid alien registration card.

Continental Airlines is the world’s sixth largest airline with more than 3,000 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. The carrier serves 152 domestic and 122 international destinations—more than any other carrier in the world.

Continental Micronesia is headquartered in Guam and operates a Pacific hub from the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport. A wholly owned subsidiary of Continental Airlines, Continental Micronesia offers more than 290 departures each week between 22 cities throughout the Pacific Rim, the Micronesian Islands and Hawaii with a fleet of 13 next generation Boeing 737 narrowbody and 767 widebody aircraft. In addition, Continental Micronesia and its code share partner, Cape Air, operate commuter service between Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. (PR)
