Filmfest calls for submission of entries
The Flame Tree Film Festival is now accepting submissions for independent feature, short, and documentary films for the 2005 festival.
The year 2005 marks the first annual FTFF, which aims to showcase motion picture work of local filmmakers. While this year’s festival will not be competitive, next year’s FTFF will invite filmmakers from the Northern Mariana Islands and from throughout the Pacific and Oceana to submit entries for competition.
All films submitted will be screened in special viewing rooms at American Memorial Park during the 24th Annual Flame Tree Festival from April 15 to 17, 2005.
In addition to film screenings, profiles of filmmakers and chronicles of the filmmaking process will be published in local newspapers prior to the festival. A panel discussion of local filmmakers will also be held during the film festival. A reception will also be held to honor all festival film-makers and their submissions.
Requirements for the submission of entries include:
* Submission deadline is 4:30 p. m. Friday, April 1, 2005.
* Entry fee is waived for 2005.
* Each entry must be submitted on VHS or DVD format.
* Entry must be submitted with a completed and signed FTFF Submission Form.
* All entries must involve principals (writers, producers, directors, and/or actors) who reside or have resided in the past five years in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
* When submitting an entry to the festival, filmmakers should be sensitive to the family-oriented nature of the Flame Tree Arts Festival.
* Organizers of the FTFF reserve the right to reject and/or not feature any submission.
* Upon completion of the FTFF, each entered VHS or DVD will be returned to the individual or group that submitted the entry.
