Jam Attack comes to Ada Gym
After a run of successful beach volleyball tournaments, the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association is now focusing on developing the local indoor talent by hosting the 15th Annual Jam Attack.
The high-flying six-on-six action returns to the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium next Saturday, March 19, and continues on Sunday, March 20, when some of the best men’s and women’s teams bump, set, and spike their way toward the championship trophies.
According to NMIVA vice-president Taula Peter, there have been a number of local men’s and women’s teams that have signed for the tournament to compliment a delegation of six teams from Guam.
“The competition will be up because of Guam coming, so with everyone playing against each other out here it’s good to get an idea of how we’ll fare against off island talent,” said Peter.
Organizers are also hoping that teams from Tinian and Rota return to Saipan for the event.
“There are some talented, high-flying teams competing, and we can’t wait for them get started,” said NMIVA secretary Steve Nguyen.
The registration fee for the Jam Attack is $100 per team, and the deadline to enter is next Wednesday, March 17.
The indoor war on the floor has been held in January in previous years, but due to the recent takeover of the local volleyball scene by NMIVA, organizers pushed it back to March.
