Assault suspect held on $10K bail
A man arrested Sunday for disturbing the peace and assault and battery has been ordered held on a $10,000 bail by the Superior Court.
Judge Kenneth Govendo also ordered 34-year-old John Eliesar to stay away from the victim and her family at their residence in the Tanapag homestead area.
Court documents showed that Eliesar was arrested after he caused a disturbance at the victim’s residence on Sunday evening.
During an interview with the victim, chief prosecutor David W. Hutton and detective Cristino Cabrera learned that Eliesar was drunk at the time he arrived at her residence, angry with his stepson for going to the victim’s house.
It was learned that Eliesar challenged the victim’s husband to a fight. He also reportedly threw rocks at the victim, but ended up hitting three of her children who were present during the incident.
The prosecutors also learned that similar incidents involving Eliesar have occurred in the past. For this reason, they added, the victim is concerned for her family’s safety should the tension escalate if Eliesar is released from jail.
“[We] believe that probable cause exists to support the charges of assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and assault with a dangerous weapon,” Hutton and Cabrera said.
