CHC losing one of its most precious resources due to NCLEX

The Commonwealth is losing some of its most qualified contract workers—the Fiji midwives.

Doctors at the Commonwealth Health Center greatly appreciated these midwives for their dedication to work. They are always there to assist doctors, allowing them to do their work efficiently.

But this relationship is about to end, as the CHC is about send home the Fiji midwives. Their continued employment in the CNMI would have been no problem if not for the CHC requiring them to take and pass the NCLEX.

Without the Fiji midwives, the CHC may face a lot of problems, as it may be forced to hire more doctors to handle the delivery cases, which in the past was the responsibility of the Fiji midwives.

This solution will definitely be more expensive, as the salary of doctors are many times higher than of the Fiji midwives, but the Fiji midwives cannot help it.

I would also like to take this chance to offer my and the Fiji midwives’ condolences to the family of the late Dr. T. Villagomez.

Dr. Villagomez was a great man and was an excellent and hard working physician. It was because of him that the Fiji midwives were able to work in the CNMI.

He always showed a soft spot for the Fiji midwives and knew the kind of excellent work they do and their invaluable contributions to CHC.

Dr. Villagomez would have been disappointed and broken-hearted to see the Fiji midwives go. But what choice do they have with the NCLEX requirement being the big obstacle that is for their continued stay on this island.
