Mobil Oil Micronesia Inc. recently turned over the refurbished children’s playroom in the Pediatrics Ward of the Palau Hospital, which Mobil had furnished and stocked with toys and books.

Earlier funding by Mobil made it possible for the Palau Hospital to build a children’s playroom in the Pediatrics Ward. To support Mobil’s community programs, Jennifer Borja, spouse of Mobil president Jeff Borja, volunteered to design and paint the children’s playroom, select educational toys and books and furnishings for the room.

In addition, a toy drive was conducted among the Mobil employees for children’s toys and books, which were donated to the Palau Hospital.

Mobil officially presented the room to the Ministry of Health and the Palau Hospital administration on Jan. 28, 2005.

Present at the official presentation were Jennifer Borja; Santy Asanuma, first pediatrics patient to enjoy the playroom; Nick Ngwal, Health Services administrator, Palau Hospital; Sandra Pierrantozi, president, Project Health Volunteer Inc.; Jeff Borja, president, Mobil Oil; Dr. Victor Yano, Minister of Health, Republic of Palau; Dr. Gregory Dever, director, Bureau of Clinical Services, Palau Hospital.
