Shag dominated and won three of four sets to bounce back from their opening day loss with a one-sided 61-37 victory over Just One in the ongoing World Organized Rocball Community League Thursday.

Shag took the Marianas High School Gymnasium by storm, knocking down aces and kees in the early goings to blow by the opposition for a 16-7 first set, with Myron Laniyo highlighting the battle with a goal.

Shag continued to put up points on the board, however, not enough to pull out another win as Just One returned the favor with kees from Johnson and Johnte Jones and cut the overall deficit to five points, 23-28, with a 16-12 win.

Shag would come back stronger in the third set behind the fire power of Melvin Seman, Mike Olaitiman, and Laniyo who all went hot and put a hurt on the ball, leading Shag to a 15-7 win and a comfortable 13-point breathing room, 43-30, with one set remaining in regulation.

Just One put up a desperation charge but Shag responded to every point and went to ice the deal with an 18-7 win.

Seman finished as the game’s heavy hitter with 15 points after connecting for an ace, a xunk, four kees, and a goal while Laniyo and Olaitiman were good for 12 and 10 points. Laniyo found the net of the goal zone twice and added an ace, a xunk, and a kee while Olaitiman’s jump serve gave him four aces and a kee.

Johnson and Jonte Jones led Just One with four points apiece, each knocking in two kees.

The WOR Community League continues Tuesday night with two games, the first serving up at 7pm at the MHS Gym.

In addition to Shag and Just One, also competing in the league are two-time defending champion Ghasias Brothers, North Star, and Chuukanos.

WOR also hosts a high school league, which is being played from 12:30pm to 1:10pm at the MHS Green Court.
