SS Ghost Company still team to beat in paintball
SS Ghost Company remains the team to beat in paintball competition after winning their second straight monthly title in the CNMI inaugural 3-Man Inter-Island Paintball Tournament Sunday at the Reuters Paintball facility in As Matuis.
Coming off an impressive showing in February’s competition, the SS Ghost Co. sharpshooters went back to work, and in the process, became the first team to put up a perfect score en route to claiming the shiny trophies.
SS Ghost Co. finished with 400 points after four games to take first place, while newcomer Citius placed second with 290 points. The only other team, Recon, took home the Sportsmanship Award—1,000 rounds of glow-in-the-dark paint. The team, which won the January tournament, finished with 110 points.
In their first game of the tournament, SS Ghost Co. avenged an earlier loss to Citius in the elimination round by shutting them down, eliminating each competitor and ensuring that each of their members remained “alive.” The team also had success in grabbing their opponents’ flag and brining it back to their zone for the 100-0 victory.
A team earns seven points for every surviving member, three points for every opposing team member eliminated, 20 points for grabbing the flag, and 50 points for safely taking back the flag to their zone.
Citius would comeback in their next outing, beating Recon 97-7 with only one member getting “killed.”
Citius had another shot against SS Ghost Co. but like in their previous meeting, the Ghost men dominated and again sported a 100-0 shutout win.
SS Ghost Co. continued to fire away, hitting their targets in their third game and leaving the field again with a 100—0 victory, this time victimizing Recon.
SS Ghost Co. would finish off their day undefeated in the tournament, raising the bar for other teams intent on beating them.
Meanwhile, Mike Reuters, who with his wife Norma owns the extreme sports facility, disclosed that next month’s tournament will be held sometime in the third week of April on Tinian at a facility known as the Hornet’s Nest.
