There’s a new salon on Beach Road where moms and nannies don’t have to worry about watching over their kids—whether they are having their hair trimmed, having facial treatment, or even relaxing through a massage.

Hairspectations Salon has a slide where kids can enjoy playing, as well as a kiddy television set where they can get hooked to the screen, while their moms and nannies enjoy the services of veteran beauty expert Eydie Uy and fellow beautician Veronica M. Leomo.

Marites Acosta-Yumul, wife of House Rep. Ray Yumul, put up the salon, her first business venture. As a mother, Yumul saw the need to include recreational facilities for children in the salon.

The businesswoman’s inclination to the salon business stemmed from her penchant to beauty treatments. Acosta had held various beauty titles in various pageants, including the Miss CNMI-International, which entitled her the privilege of competing in the globally prestigious Miss International Beauty Pageant in 1997. She had also held titles in other pageants such as the Miss Teen CNMI and the Miss Visminda.

“I like going to beauty shops all the time. That captured my interest to open the shop,” she said.

Yumul designed the interior of the shop, which is equipped with a room for facial treatment and massage.

“We have everything that other salons have in terms of services,” she said.

Services include haircut, hair color, hair rebonding, eyebrow arching, facial treatment, manicure and pedicure, foot and body massage, and waxing of eyebrows, mustache, underarm and legs.

Uy, a veteran beauty expert who has been servicing wedding and beauty pageants, is Hairspectations’ hairdresser and make-up artist. Uy and Leomo, who is also a masseuse, apply their expertise to ensure that customers leave the salon satisfied.

Hairspectations has been open for services since February. It is located on Beach Road, Garapan, adjacent to the naked Fish Bar and Restaurant.
