Coca-Cola, Subway lead sponsors for ARC walkathon

The American Red Cross said that Coca Cola Beverage Co. Micronesia and Subway will be this year’s premier event sponsors for the 19th annual Red Cross Walkathon.

The walkathon attracts over 1,000 school age children from throughout the Marianas in an effort to support the local NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“We are so pleased that Coke and Subway have taken a leadership role at this year’s event” said Red Cross executive director John Hirsh. “Coke and Subway have a long tradition of supporting community events here in the Commonwealth and we are excited about their extensive involvement this year; in an effort to make the event a great success and raise critical resources for the Red Cross”.

The walkathon will take place today, Saturday, March 19, at 6am, on all there islands. All walkers who raise/donate $15 will receive a commemorative t-shirt as well as be eligible for a special prize program.

All proceeds from the walkathon will be retained locally and go to support the services of the NMI Chapter throughout the Commonwealth. For more information call the Chapter office at 234-3459 in Saipan or Rita Manglona in Tinian or Clarita Barcinas in Rota.
