Local investigator graduates from FBI Academy
Juan T. Dela Cruz, an investigator from the Office of the Attorney General assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force-FBI Saipan Resident Agency, was among the 244 law enforcement officers across the country who graduated from Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy at the U.S. Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia on March 18, 2005.
FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III was the principal speaker at the ceremony.
Juan T. Dela Cruz is the son of Jesus C. Dela Cruz and Lourdes T. Manglona of San Antonio, Saipan. His wife, Fausia, and three children, Chantel, Cornessa, and Chioni, and Jovita C. Torres were in attendance, along with Pete A. Torres and Herbert M. Yamada on behalf of the Office of the Resident Representative.
While in Washington, D.C., the Dela Cruz family paid a courtesy visit at the Marianas Office and met with CNMI Resident Representative Pete A. Tenorio and staffers.
“By joining other law enforcement managers from around the world for this session, you have demonstrated a sense of pride and desire to excel in your chosen career,” said Tenorio. “An effective training program is crucial to meeting the demands that law enforcement officers face daily. Your successful completion of the rigorous training afforded you in the past 10 weeks will help you meet and master these challenges. Congratulations and best wishes.”
The 220th Session of the National Academy consisted of men and woman from 49 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, 28 international countries, three military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. On average, these officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive level positions.
