MHS color guard places 1st in drill meet
The color guard team of the Marianas High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Dolphin Battalion beat out 11 other schools to emerge on top of the heap in the Guam’s Annual Drill Meet held on March 19, 2005.
The MHS Color Guard team placed first—the first time any drill team from the CNMI attained such a distinction in Guam’s annual event since the inception of the CNMI JROTC program in 1991.
The MHS Color Guard Team members are cadet Maj. Rick Galang, cadet Capt. Jan Michael Reyes, cadet 1Lt. Gareth Calderwood, cadet CSM Frank Sablan, Jr. and cadet MSG John Castro.
The five-man Color Guard Team began training in January under the direct supervision of MHS JROTC instructor SFC Pedro Gloria.
The MHS Dolphin Battalion Sabre Color Guard Team also competed for the first time. The members are cadet Capt. Jenny Ngircheungel, cadet 1Lt. Dyenia Diaz, cadet 2Lt. Sheralyn Maniacop, cadet Cpl. Meagan Pangelinan and cadet Cpl. Demalyn Sablan.
Both MHS Teams are under the command of the MHS Dolphin Battalion Commander, cadet Lt. Col. Normaina Pangelinan, who was also present during the event.
