A more pleasant and pollution-free shoreline is one of the objectives of the Division of Environmental Quality, to make Saipan more attractive and healthier for beach goers.

Toward this end, the Environmental Quality is inviting volunteers to its monthly Cleanup Brigade along San Antonio beach, behind the San Antonio Elementary School.

The Cleanup Brigade aims to rid the shoreline of trash and other pollutants that could be harmful to the environment and unpleasant to tourist and local beach goers.

For this month’s activity, outstanding brigade members who have participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap; for those who participated in at least three cleanups will get a bright green brigade shirt.

DEQ said that interested volunteers can meet its representative—who will be wearing a bright green shirt—on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 8am. The representative will be at San Antonio beach area and the cleanup is only up to 10am but will continue if necessary.
