KHS saber team wins 1st place in Guam tilt
The Kagman High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Ayuyu Battalion proved to be adept in handling their swords, topping the Saber Color Guard Team Competition on Guam.
The yearly drill competition was held on Guam last Saturday, March 19, 2005. Kagman High School JROTC Ayuyu Battalion, along with Tinian High School Stallion Battalion, Rota High School Buck Battalion, Saipan Southern High School Manta Ray Battalion, and Marianas High School Dolphin Battalion competed against all the other JROTC high schools on Guam.
The Ayuyu Battalion sent both their M-1903 Rifle and Saber Color Guard Teams to compete.
The KHS Ayuyu Battalion Saber Team is the first Saber Team in the CNMI JROTC history to win first place ever.
This was also the first time the Kagman JROTC has sent a Saber Team to compete and it went on to dominate the competition.
Both teams hurdled numerous obstacles to earn their first place trophy. Hard work and dedication was put in during school, after school, and weekends of practice in the hot sun. They also had to overcome airline difficulties where their flight was canceled and had to fly the following morning, which was the day of the competition. Kagman High School Army Instructors are Master Sgt. James Burke and Sgt. 1st Class Juan King. (PR)
