XTERRA and Tagaman volunteers sought
While people around the globe are beginning to taper down their training before they take part in the 2005 XTERRA Saipan Championship and the 16th Annual Tagaman Triathlon, local organizers are gearing up to support the racers.
As the triathletes make their way through the swim, bike, and run courses of the multisport event, they will need the assistance of the local community to complete the race, and local organizers are putting out a call for volunteers.
“We are looking for transition help, traffic control, and all sorts of things,” said vice president of Taga Inc. Wolf Mojica.
Though the Department of Public Safety will be doing the majority of the traffic control, there is a need organizers said that they will still need an additional 40-60 people to cover the Tagaman course. Since the XTERRA course is primarily off-road, the need for traffic control is not as great, but volunteers are still needed to help ensure the safety of the participants at water stops and at the points where the racers transition between the each of the three disciplines.
According to Mojica, anyone who is interested in lending a hand should show up at the American Memorial Park on Friday, April 8, at 4:30pm. There will be a number of things for volunteers to do, as well as receiving their assignments for the XTERRA the following day.
