A taste of anger management for CNMI women
Men have been participating in it for many years now and have been successful at it. This time, it will be the women’s turn.
The Community Guidance Center will finally push through with its Women’s Anger Management Group sessions starting April 14 until June 16.
The session is going to be held every Thursday of the each week from 1:30pm to 3pm only at Building N-5 of the Community Guidance Center.
Mental health counselor and facilitator Patty Murphy said the Anger Management program aims to teach women of ways to express their anger properly because if anger is not handled well, this leads to stress, health problems, and even more anger.
Murphy said the Women’s Anger Management Group session was supposed to take place last year but CGC had to put it off when Supertyphoon Chaba wreaked havoc on the island.
The anger management group session with men started five years ago. The center had a one-day workshop for women last year, during which it was suggested that an anger management group session for women should also be conducted.
Due to the limited slots available, Murphy said interested women should contact them before April 14 so that they could arrange the group immediately. If more women want to participate, she said the center could arrange a follow-up session with a second batch.
Center clinicians Lynn Corella and Murphy would lead the session each week. Murphy also said there would be guest speakers for the group each week for a more credible discussion and learning experience.
