A week after the end of the 2005 XTERRA Saipan Championship and 16th Tagaman Triathlon, Saipan was still swamped with sports activities.

In tennis, the 2nd Annual Toyota Tennis Tournament managed to wrap all but one of its divisions in doubles play.

Topping the winners are Peter Loyola and Ji Hoon Heo and Kazumi Imai and Yuko Kobayashi, who won the men’s open and women’s open levels, respectively.

In basketball, defending champion Hoopholics is lording it over the BANMI 25-and-under Basketball League, going spotless in eight games so far in the season.

In the 2005 Mobil Oil Marianas Co-ed Invitational Basketball League, Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach and Commonwealth Ports Authority both had big fourth quarters to vanquish separate rivals Thursday, while host Mobil outgunned Toyota and Commonwealth Utilities Corp. kept the CNMI Women’s National team winless Tuesday.

With a 4-0 win-loss mark Northern Yankees leads the 2005 Saipan Major League with Ford Rangers hot in their trail just a half game back at 4-1.

Action in the Saipan Little League also continued last week with tomorrow’s hardball stars impressing the old guard, even as the Saipan Softball Association and Inter-Government Slow Pitch Softball League unveiled their 2005 seasons.

In bowling, Onwell Manufacturing Ltd. finally wrested the championship of the Philippine Bowling Association-Capital Bowling Center Friday Night League, while Jess “Kuya J.R.” Rebusada and Lynn Teregeyo ran away with the Pepsi King and Queen of the Lanes titles for April.
