Ben Lizama and Eric Tenorio proved to be an effective one-two punch for the As Matuis Twins on Saturday morning, as the pitcher and catcher combined to maul the Matrix and lift their squad to its fifth win of the season at Tan Ge field in Oleai.

Lizama pitched a six-inning complete game for the Twins, in which he allowed five runs off of six hits and fanned five along the way. While Tenorio called the pitches from behind the plate, Lizama needed little direction with the bat, as the hurler-turned-hitter went 3-for-4 with a single and a pair of triples—including a three-run three-bagger in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lizama also crossed the plate for a score—something that teammate Tenorio has grown accustomed through nine games this season.

When the league’s top hitter stepped into the batter’s box on Saturday, he went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Barry Bonds’ mini-me also drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.

Shortstop Paul Jones didn’t let Lizama and Tenorio hog all of the fun, as he went a solid 2-for-3 with a single, a triple, drove in a runner, stole a base, and crossed home plate twice for the Twins.

Little Legals 9, Patriots 5

After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, the Little Legals litigated six runs off of four hits in the top of the second to take the lead for the remainder of the game and their third win from the VFW Patriots, 9-5.

Albert Bahillo was the lead attorney at the plate for the Legals, as the shortstop-turned-relief pitcher won all three of his cases at the plate en route to finishing with a pair of singles, a double, two scores, and a run batted in.

Fellow counselor Jake Hocog wielded the bat of justice for a single, a double, two runs batted in, and two runs scored, while first baseman Marciano Olenuipi went 1-for-2 with an RBI triple and two walks.

Braves 19, Bombers 1 *to be resumed

The Tanapag Braves enjoyed the success of four batters with perfection at the plate en route to scoring 19 runs off of 23 hits against the Church’s Chicken Bombers, but they aren’t done yet.

The Braves did all of their damage in four attempts at the plate because the weekend’s rains put a stop to any further scalping. The game will be resumed following the completion of the regular season, as the teams will suit up to continue the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Charito Kladikim was having a career day at the plate, as the Braves’ speedy third baseman was 5-for-5 at the plate with a single, a double and three triples. Kladikim tallied five runs batted in, four runs scored, and stole a base—and there is still more to be played. Peter Jeter Lieto (3-for-3), Jeremy Taitano (3-for-3), and Sandrew Kani (2-for-2) were also flawless in the flossing, while shortstop Josh Jones smacked a three-run inside the park homerun in the top of a nine-hit 11-run fourth inning.

JUNIOR LEAGUE
Ol’ Aces 7, Marlins 2

Ryan Ada took advantage of his opportunities at the plate in front of the crowd at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field on Saturday morning, as the first baseman provided the power for the Ol’ Aces in their 7-2 win over the Marlins.

Ada went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles, three runs batted in and a run scored. He single handedly was responsible for half of the Ol’ Aces tally, and may have hit more were it not for a bean ball that gave him the chance to score late in the game. While Ada was by far the most productive hitter for his squad, teammates Juan Iguel, Leo Garlarce, and Ben Taisacan combined for five runs scored with an unflattering 1-for-9 at the plate. The trio received plenty of help form the Marlins pitchers, who walked them a combined five times.

Pirates 7, Hustlers 3
*to be resumed
Saturday’s rain gave the Hustlers the opportunity to take a step back from their 7-3 deficit to the Pirates and reassess their play before the resumption of runs, hits, and errors at the end of the season.

The Hustlers surrendered seven runs off of four hits, walked six batters, fanned three, and committed four errors in two and a half innings to gift wrap a win for the Pirates before the heavens threw a towel into the ring via well-timed precipitation.

The only winless team in the Junior League walked in a run and allowed four from errors alone, but the Hustlers have the rest of the season to prepare for the second. In the other dugout, second baseman A.J. Taitano tallied half of his team’s hit total with a pair of singles and two runs scored.
