As part of the activities for the 2005 CNMI Tourism Month, the Marianas Visitors Authority is having their annual Trash-4-Cash activity every Saturday during the month of May.

All interested participants must register at the MVA office.

Participants must be in a group of no less than 10 people. Only school clubs/groups and non-profit organizations are eligible for this activity.

A cash incentive will be awarded to each group once their assigned beach area is cleaned.

“This is just one activity that our community can get involved in to promote our island’s beauty by ensuring our beaches are clean for our visitors,” said Frank Tudela, Community Development Specialist for MVA.

The Trash-4-Cash activity will focus primarily on ensuring that all designated areas are cleaned around the island. Each group/organization will be assigned to a designated cleaning site. To ensure that the services are rendered coordinators for this event will take before and after photos of the site.

“Upon completion of the cleanup, we will require each group leader to fill out a survey/questionnaire to assist us with recommendations and feedback for next year,” Tudela said.

For more information about this activity, contact Tudela at 664-3200/01.
