2 SCHOOL THEFT SUSPECTS FALL

Operatives arrested two men who were tagged as suspects in the burglary and theft that occurred at the Koblerville Elementary School exactly one month ago.

Department of Public Safety spokesman identified the two men as Frankie Joe T. Mafnas, a 29-year-old resident of As Lito, and George A. Aguon, a 51-year-old resident of Koblerville.

Mafnas and Aguon allegedly barged inside two classrooms last March 26 and stole computer equipment and two television sets. The Thief Apprehension Select Coalition conducted an investigation and learned the identities of the suspects.

TASC’s investigation resulted in the issuance of arrest warrants by Superior Court judge David Wiseman last Friday. Operatives then collared the two suspects.

3 STRANDED FISHERMEN RESCUED

Police rescued three fishermen who were stranded at sea due to rough waves last week.

In one of the incidents, boating safety personnel responded beyond the reefline across Aquarius Beach Tower in Susupe during the wee hours last Friday and conducted searches until morning.

The operatives finally spotted Liang Hong Jie clinging to his boat at around 7:11am, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric David.

David said the operatives rescued Liang and brought him to the hospital for treatment. Liang was suffering from exhaustion and feet cramps.

In another incident, David said a patrolling policeman spotted a fishing vessel that was drifting at sea across the Hakubotan building on Beach Road, Chalan Laulau. Boating safety personnel then responded immediately to the scene on the morning of April 16.

Operatives rescued Luis Guanzon and William Joseph, who had traveled from the Fishing Base marina.
