Police arrested a 14-year-old boy who allegedly snatched a woman’s backpack containing valuables and cash money while she was using a payphone near a San Vicente store.

Police major Edward H. Manalili, criminal investigation bureau commander, said operatives arrested the boy in Susupe last Friday pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Superior Court judge David Wiseman.

The boy remains in custody. The court imposed a $5,000-bail for his temporary release.

Members of the Thief Apprehension Select Coalition identified the boy, a Chalan Kanoa resident, about a month after the suspect stole the bag of one Jamie Keating.

Keating sought police assistance on the wee hours of March 19, saying that the suspect snatched her backpack while she was using the payphone by the Nang Nocha Store in San Vicente.

The woman had just placed her bag on a wooden bench when the boy snatched it and fled. It contained valuables and cash valued at over $500.
