SCC investment workshop postponed
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Investment Workshop has been postponed to May 5.
Originally scheduled for Thursday, April 28, the Investment Workshop, led by David Beaver of Merrill, Lynch, will be held on Thursday May 5.
The full-day workshop will be held at the Hibiscus Hall of Saipan World Resort. Cost for the day, including lunch, is $25 for SCC members and $45 for non-members. Pre-registration is required: call 233-7150 to register.
Topics to be covered during the workshop are:
* Stocks Bonds and Mutual Funds
* Diversification, Asset Allocation and Sectors
* Types of accounts (Tax Efficient vs. Traditional Accounts)
* General Forum/ Strategies
There will also be time for participants to have their own questions answered.

Govt accountants’ group meeting today
The Association of Government Accountants NMI Chapter wishes to announce its General Membership meeting today, April 28, at Giovanni’s, Hyatt Regency Hotel, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Meeting fees are $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
Guest speaker for the event is Alex Sablan, President of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce.

Tax filing deadline set
The Division of Revenue and Taxation wished to remind all CNMI residents that the 2005 1st Quarter deadline for filing the quarterly tax returns is Monday, May 2, 2005. The Division of Revenue and Taxation will be open from 7:30am until 8:30pm on Monday, May 2, 2005. The office of the Division of Revenue and Taxation is located at the Joeten Dandan Commercial Center.
Summer pre-law program registration
Two law professors from the University of New Mexico Law School will be teaching in the Summer Pre-Law Program, to be held from June 27 to July 15, 2005. The three-week program is open to college seniors and graduates who are interested in pursuing a law degree. All instructions will be held at the Supreme Court in Susupe. Applications may be downloaded from the CNMI Judiciary’s website at www.justice.gov.mp or may be obtained at the office of the Clerk of Court, Supreme Court. Priority deadline for application is May 1, 2005. Call 236-9800 for more information.
Funds available for utility payments
The Saipan Mayor’s Office has announced the availability of funds under the Mayor’s Utility Assistance Program to help qualified residents pay for one month of their overdue power bill.
This is a federally funded program available to residents of Saipan who are unable to bring their power account current with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
Applications can be picked up at the Saipan Mayor’s Office at Afetnas Square in San Antonio during regular working hours, Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 11am and from 12:30pm to 4pm.
