The Division of Environmental Quality’s 2005 Environmental Awareness Week successfully launched various activities that highlighted the agency’s partnerships with various organizations and other government agencies to promote environmental awareness and protection from April 17-23, 2005.

The EAW ran in conjunction with the 32nd Annual National Earth Day.

Some of the activities that ran throughout the week were various school presentations, school recycling contests, a poem and essay contest, the Islandwide Cleanup Marianas Day, a snorkeling lagoon cleanup, a SCUBA cleanup, and two Environmental Expos that featured various government, private, and non-profit agencies that had displays on how to safeguard the CNMI’s environment.

DEQ would like to congratulate all of the winners of the contests, and thanks to all of the participants in this year’s events. Although Earth Day has already passed, everyday should be Earth Day in the CNMI! (PR)
