Northern Marianas College will mark its 24th anniversary with a variety of Charter Day events this weekend.

Carrying the theme “Navigating the Way to Lifelong Discoveries,” the two-day celebration will begin with an opening ceremony at 4pm today.

It will be followed by a series of activities that include the annual Custom Car Show, the Marianas Idol II, trivia games, and a band competition. The fun will continue on April 30, Saturday, with more activities and entertainment.

The Associated Students of the Northern Marianas College said this year’s celebration would be bigger than ever, with the events spanning two days instead of only one.

Gov. Juan N. Babauta has proclaimed April as NMC Month in commemoration of the establishment of the college 24 years ago.

In his proclamation, Babauta recognized the role played by the college as the Commonwealth’s major provider of higher education.

“[I] commend NMC as it continues to provide educational and training services vital to the social and economic development of the CNMI. I urge everyone to support NMC in this observance and to appreciate the value of having a quality post-secondary institution here in the CNMI,” Babauta said.
