Nokkie Lizama provided all of the power as the UMDA Hustlers untied the laces of the Ol’Aces in a mercy shortened contest that got the Sunday morning edition of the Saipan Little League Baseball Association going at Tan Ge field in Oleai.

Lizama single handedly crossed the plate as many times as the Ol’Aces, as the slugger went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles and a two-run homerun. Lizama finished the day with five runs batted in, and ensured that the competition was without ammunition by pitching two innings, in which he allowed three runs off of three hits.

Before handing the ball off to relief pitcher Jonathan Tydingco, Lizama fanned four batters. When he took the hill in the top of the third inning, Tydingco blanked the Ol’Aces, and finished the game with four strikeouts, and one run allowed off of three hits.

The hard-hitting pitcher also helped, as Tydingco also went 4-for-4. The reliever cranked out two singles, a double, and a triple, scored twice, and tallied four runs batted in.

Clyde Sablan didn’t let the pitchers have all of the fun, as the shortstop went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles, a double, and a walk for the Hustlers. Sablan also scored two runs for his team to help them keep pace with the Tanapag Braves in first place.

BLUE JAYS 13, BOMBERS 0

While Church’s Chicken offers Jalapeño Bombers that complement their meal deals, the baseball version of the tasty treat could use a little work. The Dan Dan Blue Jays feasted upon the Bombers for 11 runs off of eight hits in the bottom of the second inning to put all hopes of an upset to rest.

Third baseman Anthony Salas ordered up three singles, a pair of scores, and some fries en route to a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, while fellow Dan Dan hitman Brian Camacho went 2-for-3 with a single, a triple, and three runs batted in.

Santiago Tenorio picked up the win on the mound for the Blue Jays in only four innings of work, and allowed just two hits while striking out six in the shutout.

MCDONALD’S 12, PATRIOTS 3

Peter and Patrick Tenorio put up a plethora of pings for McDonald’s, as the pair prevented opposing pitchers from passing the plate painlessly by pounding every sphere that came their way.

Patrick went 4-for-4 with three single, a double, and a run scored, while Peter hit a pair of doubles, an RBI triple, and an inside-the-park homerun to finish 4-for-4 with six runs batted in. The shortstop also scored three times for McDonald’s, while the biggest of the small fries, catcher J.D. Sablan, went 3-for-3 with an RBI single, an RBI triple, a double, and a run scored.

While the Tenorios and Sablan took care of the offense, John Maratita handled the defense from the hill, as the young pitcher fanned 11 would-be hitters, and allowed three runs off of two hits through all six innings.

MATRIX 6, LITTLE LEGALS 5

The Toyota Matrix scored six-runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a narrow 6-5 win over the Little Legals, but not before surviving a scare in the final inning.

The Legals chipped away at the deficit with a run in the top of the second and a pair in the third before leadoff batters Albert Bahillo and Danny Nakamura crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth to draw within one run of the Matrix.

After surrendering the runs, the Toyota squad received clutch pitching from mound-minder Sandy Aguon. Just like an episode from Sesame Street, Aguon’s sixth inning was brought to you by the number three and the letter “K”, as the closer rebounded to fan all three outs to end the game.
