Ngaremlengui State to host CNMI team in Mini SPG
The Republic of Palau has already designated states within its nation to host the visiting teams from around the Pacific region that will compete in the upcoming 2005 South Pacific Mini Games, and confirming its stand on serving as a sister country to the CNMI Delegation is Ngaremlengui State.
A total of 19 delegations, including the NMI, will be part of the Mini Games and each delegate will have the benefit of forming positive relationships with individuals assigned by 16 states who will assist them during their stay.
Other states confirming to serve as sister states for visiting delegations are Aimeliik State for Team Fiji, Airai State for the Federated States of Micronesia, Angaur State for Nauru, Hatohobei State for Tuvalu, Kayengel State for Norfolk Island, Koror State for the Guam and Wallis and Futuna delegations, Melekeok State for New Caledonia, Ngaraard State for Tonga, Ngardmau State for American Samoa, Ngatpang State for Solomon Islands, Ngchesar State for Vanuatu and the Marshall Islands, Ngarchelong State for Samoa, Ngiwal State for Cook Islands and Kiribati, Peleliu State for Papua New Guinea, and Sonsorol State for Nuie.
The 19 nations will send a total of 37 men’s and women’s team for the quadrennial event.
The CNMI Delegation recently received a boost from the government, which appropriated $100,000 for the Games.
The Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association had earlier set a deadline, which was last Friday, for all teams to submit $800 per athlete.
NMASA would hold its monthly board meeting tomorrow at 6:30om at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
Team CNMI is expected to see action in wrestling, baseball, softball, athletics, triathlon, tennis, swimming, and table tennis.
The Mini SPG will run from July 24 to Aug. 4.
