With the playoffs of the 2005 Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League kicking into full gear, one player who already has a big smile on his face is forward Ike Aldan of the Tanapag Young Warriors, who was hailed IVYBL regular season scoring champion.

Statistics provided by league coordinator Jonathan Tenorio showed that Aldan put the ball through the hoop more times than any other player in the league.

The Young Warrior, who was half of Tanapag’s one-two punch, torched the nets for a whopping 107 points in seven games for a league-best average of 15.3 points per game.

Finishing a close second was center Bill Babauta, who is one big reason why the San Antonio 69ers have yet to lose.

Babauta led his team to a spotless 7-0 record in the regular season, pouring in 80 points in six outings for a 13.3 norm per game.

For his part, Juan Ogarto was a key figure in lifting the Matansa Sparks to a fourth-place finish after the first round, as he drilled in a total of 74 points in the six games he played for a third-best average of 12.3 points per game.

Meanwhile, Gerome Mira, the other half of the Warriors’ one-two punch, was also among the elite scorers of the season, tormenting opponents for 72 points in the seven games he suited up for a respectable average of 10.2 points per outing, while Jericho Cruz of the defending champions G-Rollers did well for coaches Jose Tumaquip and Joe Diaz, shooting up 54 points in six games to average nine points per game to help his team finish in third place.

Jake Maratita and Ernest Duenas of the 69ers follow in the top 10, with Maratita proving his skills worth with 43 points for a 7.1 average and Duenas punching in 38 points for a 6.3 average.

Don Teregeyo of the G-Rollers and Alvin Salas of the San Antonio Sixers I also put up solid numbers and ranked eighth and ninth in the league in scoring. Both worked relentlessly on the hardcourt for 33 points and averaged 4.7 points per game.

Capping the list was Jose Castro of the G-Rollers, who went berserk for 32 points to finish with an average of 4.5 points per game.
