Abyss Bar’s Malibu Breeze is this year’s Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival and Beer Garden’s winning concoction.

The drink was chosen during last Saturday’s Bartender’s Cocktail Competition held at the American Memorial Park.

Malibu Breeze captured the discriminating taste buds of the judges to bag this year’s “Malibu Best in Taste.”

Malibu Breeze’s ingredients include the Malibu rum, mango juice, fresh milk, a tinge of grenadine, and coconut syrup, said Abyss’ Ronnie Lopez.

He said Abyss Bar’s two entries made it to the Best in Taste winning list. The other concoction from Abyss Bar was called Malibu Pine Cooler.

Lopez said he made the Malibu Breeze mix three months ago and that it is new on their menu list.

He said in that in the short span of time they have been serving the concoction, it has attracted a lot of loyal patrons, with some customers commending him for the taste of the drink, saying it is mild and not too sweet.

Malibu Breeze, the milky, pinkish white concoction, is served regularly at the Abyss Bar in Garapan. The cocktail drink’s price is $6 and $7.

Abyss received $100 from the contest organizers and sponsors. The judges for the taste category were KZMI’s Lewy Tenorio, Younis Art Studio’s Laila Younis, and Marianas Public Lands Authority’s Frank Eliptico.

The Taste of the Marianas, which features local and international cultures and dishes, will hold its last night this year on May 28, Saturday, still at the American Memorial Park.

The Marianas Visitors Authority is inviting everyone to the final night of festivities that celebrates May as Tourism Month.
