Sobriety checkpoints on Friday

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting sobriety checkpoints on Friday, May 27.

The first set up will be on Beach Road Chalan Piao by Hopwood Junior High School. This operation will start at approximately 8pm and will be terminated at approximately 9:15pm.

The second set up will be on 2W Highway Puerto Rico by Army Reserve. The operation will start at approximately 10:30pm and will be terminated at approximately 11:45pm .

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. This activity is part of the DPS’ efforts to deter and detect drugged and drunk driving and ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
