Dressed in their bright blue William S. Reyes Elementary School shirts, 81 Kindergarten pupils of WSR sat center stage Friday morning in celebration of their promotion to the first grade level.

On hand to assist the teachers in the ceremony were WSR principal Alfred B. Ada, vice principal Lynette Villagomez, and special education instructor LJ Castro.

Kindergarten teachers Bobbie Lee, Cecil Iquin, and Mona Taro presented the students with the certificate of completion as they called each student to stand.

Iquin also honored and recognized students wearing red ribbons. “The red ribbons are awarded to the student who have completed all their home works from 2004-2005,” she said.

Following the presentation of completion was a special performance from the kindergarteners. Parents gathered by the stage snapping shots as the pupils narrated the story of Goldielocks and the three bears.

In her closing remarks, Villagomez encouraged the parents to continue supporting their children. “All the learning they[students] have gone through is the building blocks in their lives. Parents, I want to thank you for supporting them,” she said.

The ceremony ended with the pupils holding hands as they marched off stage to a peace builder’s song and into the arms of their proud parents. (Cassie Dlg Fejeran)
