Little Miss Marianas candidates to gain self-confidence
Eight-year old Angelica Samson Roman said she is joining the Little Miss Marianas 2005 to enhance her self-confidence and determination of her goals while she’s still young.
Roman is one of the final five candidates for the upcoming Little Miss Marianas 2005 beauty pageant. She is currently a 3rd grader at San Vicente Elementary School. Other candidates are Kaylyn S. Celis, also eight years old, studying at the William S. Reyes Elementary School.
Riselle Iris Capino Long is seven and a 2nd grader at Golden Harvest International School. Nine-year-old Aldreen T. Adriano is a 4th grader at Grace Christian Academy. Malena M. Hofschneider is also eight and a 3rd grade student at the Tinian Elementary School.
Hofschneider and her parents flew from Tinian Saturday just to attend the media conference introducing the young candidates to the public. The conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Saipan Saturday morning. Stellar Marianas, the newest non-profit beauty pageant organization in the CNMI, introduced the final candidates for the pageant set on June 25 at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Hall in Susupe.
Stellar’s president Laila Y. Boyer said the little candidates will be very busy in the coming days as they will participate in several activities such as participation in the Liberation Day kick off next Friday as the young misses will stage a fashion show.
The candidates will also be visiting the Man’amko Center to provide entertainment to the elderly. They will also spend time reading for pre-schoolers at Seventh Day Adventist School.
Boyer said prizes at stake for this year’s winners, though not official yet, will be $300, a crown, sash, trophy, one-year hair and make-up, gifts from Ponds, Suave and Dove, an official portfolio and a year of fun events and activities.
The 2004 Little Miss CNMI Hope Gomez also attended the media briefing and photo shoot. Gomez advised the five little candidates not to be scared and just be themselves. She said she would not forget her experience the pageant had provided her. Gomez, who wooed the judges last year, could still remember the question she was asked during the pageant night. She said her answer to the question of what she would do after winning the pageant was to create a pen pal club so that she could reach out to other people of different cultures in the world.
“We are very pleased to have a group of extraordinary young girls go for the CNMI’s youngest ambassador title,” said chair Esther Milne.
Boyer said the pageant would be divided into four categories: Fantasy costumes, talent portion, evening gown, and the dreaded question-and-answer portion. Anna Gluschov of Gluschov Academy would be the pageant’s choreographer while 2004 Miss CNMI World Tracy Del Rosario and 2000 Miss NMI Universe Cherlyn Cabrera would direct the show.
