“Marching in the Light of God” was this year’s theme for the Saipan Seventh Day Adventist Kindergarten graduation held last Tuesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Center along Quartermaster Road.

The Kindergarten graduates were Elton Jesse Camacho, Jusrin Billy Kukkun, Jae Yeon Lee, Noah Luke Paez, Jessie Jem Ramsey, Jason Su and Nina Wu. Wu was recognized as the only female graduate for this year’s class of 2005.

The school also remembered their previous classmates who have transferred or moved off island: Naomi Billimon, David Lee, Jamie Lee, Asami Mizuno, Takanori Ota and Kevin Zehn.

SDA schoolteacher Shannon Gerber hosted the graduation ceremony. Kindergarten graduate Ramsey led the opening prayer for the ceremony. The seven graduates presented a song number entitled “Love You Forever” that was dedicated to their parents and families.

The graduates also presented gifts and tokens that they had prepared to their parents, grandparents and school friends.

Barbara Maycock, SDA Elementary School principal, was the keynote speaker during the ceremony, during which, instead of making a speech, she read the children a story about a kid who was transformed into a God-fearing Christian and a productive member of society.

She said she did not want to bore the kids with the usual speech.

Maycock and Gerber presented the kindergarten class the certificates proving that they have completed their school term and are now ready to enter first grade.

The graduates also performed a song number entitled Shout to the Lord. Kindergarten graduate Kukkun led the closing prayer for the ceremony.

The graduates left a message that said “…to our parents and grandparents who have helped us all yearlong…to all of the staff and students at the school who have helped us adjust to elementary school…to Jesus, for being our Forever Friend!”
