Kagman High graduates 159 students
“Moving on to bigger dreams” was the theme of the Kagman High School during its graduation ceremony Wednesday that saw 159 students finishing their secondary education. Of these, five were juniors who have exceeded their grade level and graduated with the seniors.
Receiving top honors were valedictorian Zack Diaz and salutatorian Laura Bucher.
Student Council president Lynette Quitano amused the audience when she said: “[Finally] no more stress, what a relief.”
“My fellow friends, the fun has just begun. We learned how to make many friends, overcome obstacles, and be independent,” she added. “Remember our name, remember our face, [because] there [is] no class that can take our place.”
During her remarks, principal Doreen Tudela commended the graduates for a job well done. She also encouraged the students to continue to strive to succeed in their academic studies.
“Only you can make it happen, by holding onto your dreams and leading them into reality. Keep the memories that you had during your years at Kagman High School. Treasure and cherish these memories, as they will be your most profound memories. Let it be your guiding light to success,” she said.
Graduates were recognized for their achievements in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language, and Physical Education.
Other awards included the Joeten Charitable Award, which was given to Justise Quitugua. Now enrolled at the Chaminade University in Honolulu, Quitugua returned to Saipan to attend the graduation ceremony.
The guests included acting Gov. Diego Benavente, Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, Education Commissioner Dr. Rita Inos, Reps. Ben Seman and Heinz Hofschneider, Public School System Board of Education chair Roman Benavente, and teacher representative Ambrose Bennett, among others. (Cassie DLG Fejeran)
