Big Brothers Big Sisters group link up with Island Girl Power
Dededo, Guam—Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam, or BBBSG, is partnering with Island Girl Power for a new site-based mentoring program.
Enrollment for the program will begin Saturday, June 4, from 10am to 12 noon at the IGP clubhouse located on Y Sengsong in Dededo.
Girls ages 7-14 will be matched with BBBSG screened Big Sisters and meet at the IGP club house in Dededo 2-4 Saturdays per month.
The mentoring program will offer the same benefits as BBBSG programs at other sites such as Benavente and Untalan middle schools. The pair will spend time together building a friendship and participating in fun-filled activities.
Volunteers interested in mentoring a Little Sister are also invited to enroll at this time.
Parents may also pick up applications for male siblings interested in the community based mentoring program.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam is to provide quality volunteer and professional mentoring services for children and youth and to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become responsible men and women. The service utilizes the support of mentors in one-to-one relationships with at-risk youth. The office recently relocated to the Chalan Pago Shell gas station on the second floor of the AC Delco facility.
