25-and-under playoff cast slims down tonight
After tonight, one of the six teams vying for this year’s BANMI 25-and-under Basketball League title will kiss their title hopes goodbye.
Both the San Antonio Wildcats and Ulloa’s were beaten last week, but fortunately for them, league officials decided the playoffs would feature a double-elimination format. The two will now engage in a do-or-die battle at 8pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, with the loser bidding farewell.
Whoever wins the bout will face either Garapan Rollers or SaipanCell-NMC Hoopaholics this Friday at 6:30pm.
The G-Rollers and Hoopaholics are scheduled to bang heads on Wednesday after dropping to the losers’ bracket with defeats Friday night. Like the Wildcats-Ulloa’s bout, the loser will make an exit after both teams already have one loss on their corner.
Meanwhile, sixth-seed Ghasias 7-Kings is looking sharp and will battle pennant champion Toyota Prius at 6:30pm tonight. The last two teams in the winners’ bracket have much at stake, with the winner earning a golden ticket to the championship game.
The 7-Kings advanced to where they are courtesy of upset victories over the Wildcats and Hoopaholics, while Prius defeated the G-Rollers.
