UFO to hold ‘Pistang Pinoy’ for Philippine Independence Day
The United Filipino Organization, in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General, has lined up activities for the 107th Philippine Independence Day celebrations on June 12.
Highlighting the event is the Pistang Pinoy (Filipino Festival) that will showcase Filipino culture and tradition food, goods, entertainment and other activities.
Pistang Pinoy will be held this Sunday at the Civic Center in Susupe, starting at 9:30am.
Prior to these, the Philippine Consulate General will hold a vin d’honneur at Dai-Ichi Hotel on Friday, where Gov. Juan N. Babauta will sign the Philippine-CNMI Friendship Week proclamation.
The annual flag-raising ceremony will be held at 7am on June 12 at the Nauru Building grounds.
UFO, the umbrella organization of 26 Filipino groups in the CNMI, will also have a singing competition for children aged 8 to 16 and for adults 17 to 35 years old.
There will be booths selling food and drinks, clothes, toys and novelty items, and a lineup of non-stop entertainment featuring talented Filipino singers, dancers and bands. Lots of attractive prizes will also be given away to the lucky winners.
“We are inviting everyone to join us as we celebrate the 107th Philippine Independence Day,” said UFO president Rolando Pamintuan.
