The members of the Commonwealth Development Authority board of directors voted Tom Glenn Quitugua yesterday to be its new chair.

Quitugua, who currently heads CDA’s Development Corporation Division, will assume office after the term of his predecessor, Sixto Igisomar, expires on June 15, 2005.

“I guess my message to the new officers is to continue the work that we’ve done. Stay on a linear path. Don’t create too much web; don’t make things too complicated. Make the closest to the right decision as much as possible,” said Igisomar.

Igisomar sat on the CDA board of directors for four years, two of which he served as chair.

Antonio Borja was reelected as CDA vice chair, while former treasurer Vincent Calvo was voted secretary. Marcie Tomokane was elected treasurer.

Igisomar said the transition for the new CDA board would begin on Monday.

But while the new board will officially be taking over on June 16, it will not be able to conduct any meetings until early July due to a lack of quorum.

Edwin Hofschneider, the Tinian representative to the CDA board whose term expired on May 25, has yet to be replaced.

Two other members—Calvo and Tomokane—will be off island for personal reasons. They are not expected to be back until the end of the month.

With Igisomar’s term expiring, only three board members—Borja, Quitugua, and Sablan—will be left on the board.

At least five of seven members have to be present in a meeting to constitute a quorum.
